Digital Learning Tool: Vocaroo

Vocaroo - Online Voice Recording Service

Usability / Review:

I chose Vacaroo, which is a voice recording tool that allows you to share your recording in many ways.  You have the ability to email your message or embed a link into your presentation or website.  You can also share your voice recording on all the major social media and you can create a QR code to share for your audience.  Your message can also be shared in a convenient web address.

This tool can be used in many ways to help enhance your audience experience and keep them up to date.  In an education environment, you can provide directions in an audio format to help the different learning style.  This could also be a helpful tool for those students or employees in a meeting that may ask you to repeat yourself or clarify a statement to the topic.  This tool would give them the ability to pause, rewind or review the material at their own pace.  This could help create a positive learning environment for all.

Another applicate or setting that this tool could be used in is when teachers or managers are out of the office and material still needs to be delivered to the students or staff.  They have the ability to prepare a message ahead of time and provided direction to the facilitator.  From example, a substitute could use this tool to learn exactly what the teacher expects them to get accomplished during their day.  The teacher can provide the lesson plans and give step-by-step instructions to ensure the learning process is not affected.

It is also a very cost-effective way to communicate with your students, peers, and employees and ensure that they get the message.  This tool can also be used to provide feedback.  Consider having your teacher/ professor verbally explain how you did on an assignment or paper.  The feedback can be delivered via email or added to your own personal blog and allow you to hear their suggestions.  This feedback can be used as a reference guide for other assignments as well if needed.

For me personally, in a business environment, I would use this tool almost daily for many things.  I could use it for the daily meetings that we discuss topics and agenda for the day.  It would ensure that all of my team members get the ability to listen to updates and important information even if they are not able to make the meeting.  I could record the meeting ahead of time and email it out to my staff that morning or the night before.  This would allow all team members to listen to the information at their leisure.  It would also be a great tool for me to follow up with, by asking my team to talk about what they heard in the meeting.

The tool could also be used to help develop my team.  If they are struggling in an area, such as making outbound calls, they could practice using Vocaroo.  It would allow the employee to hear the message that they leave for the customers and give them the opportunity to adjust their process if needed.  This tool could also help employees prepare for interviews and build confidence allowing them to be better prepared for their next career move.

This Vocaroo tool is very easy to use and does not require a user name or password so accessing this tool would be fast and convenient.  This is a selling point for me, as I have so many usernames and passwords to remember.  I can pull up the website and start recording without needing to remember my login credentials.

The only challenge that I could see the end user running into is not having access to the internet or having a device to use it on.  Other then that, the tool is very easy to use and anyone could learn how to make a voice recording.

  1. Corey, you sold me on Vocaroo! Like the tool Ellen reviewed (SpeakPipe), this one seems much more user-friendly than the one I looked at (Chirbit). I was particularly impressed by the variety of application scenarios you described-- especially your idea for "flipping the meeting" by delivering content in Vocaroo recordings before getting everyone together for discussion.

  2. Hi Corey, Vocaroo seems like a good audio tool for both an office and school setting. Your ideas for using this tool in both settings are great. Thank you for sharing!

  3. I would agree with Kelly this tool looks a lot easier to use than the one that I had chosen. You also presented some great ideas on how to use this tool in the workplace.
